Stefania and Alessio
We would like to shortly tell you something about us. Our family is composed of Alessio (the “boss”), me (Stefania), Galadriel (our Galy-birba), Ebony (called Ebby-ciccia) and the last one arrived Fiorucci (called Fio or GattoFio). And this is more or less our story 'till today... On january 2004, after the loss of my beloved cat Babylon, we started looking around for a kitten because it was impossible to live without the presence of a cat at home. Browsing on the internet I quickly found the breed of my dreams : Birmans, with their wonderful charming look and elegance. We contacted several catteries and due to some destiny happenings we finally found our little kitten at Michela Luciani's home, where little Galy and his brothers were born few days before. When we saw her for the very first time she was really a little furry ball and thanks to Michela's kindness we could follow her growing up and choose her name. Galy is a big joy for us, always playing and so sweet, we have also discovered lately she is a wonderful mom. She is always with us and since the first day at home it was immediately clear that she is the queen here: she took her place with us under our bed covers and that's her place since then :)
After some time we understood that Galy was not happy of being alone during the hours we were out for work, so we decided to let her have a friend to play with. We started again our research and we found our kitten after some months in Germany, at Li-maj's cattery, owned by Irmgard Baetke, an exceptional, kind and serious breeder, who guided us making the right choice. We can now say it was a good choice to wait for her because she is a big treasure of beauty and love and she conquered us all. Later a new idea started coming into our minds, and we began thinking about having a birman boy and future husband for our two girls. And again another long long research, because this time we were looking for a kitten with some particular caracteristics and it took some time before we found our little chocolate baby, a kitten always lively and sweet. Fio really has a lot of good qualities I really love and I want to thank his breeder Linda Ohlsson of Litherna's cattery for letting him move to our home and our friend Siri Steen from Xclusive cattery for her help. At the end, only few words about our cattery name. We wanted a name being someway linked to our life or the place where we live. The Poggio Imperiale Fortress is one of the most famous places in our town.

Giusy and Massy
ONCE UPON A TIME...
...there was a cat named Sissy. We found her by chance, she was little and in bad conditions, but she recovered soon and became so beautiful that she could seem a pure breed cat. Despite our deep love and all our cares, Sissy never lost that wild nature that was pushing her out of home for some hours every day. Till the day she didn't come back home... It's hard to tell the terrible sense of void she left us. What I perfectly remember is that I never thought possible, before that moment, to feel such a big sufference for the lost of a friend animal. During the following days something special happened. My husband Massy was not able to make me smile again and he made something special for me : he brought me to a birman cattery (knowing my love for this breed) to adopt a kitten, hoping this kitten could bring happyness back at home. We were interested in a pet kitten, but when we saw Smilla, so beautiful and unique with her colours mix of red and seal point... I immediately fell in love with her and wihtout any doubt we followed our feelings and brought her home with us, where she is now the absolute queen. In the following months we decided to experience some cat shows and during one of them we met Stefania and her cats (Ebby and Galy). We became good friends and talking together we soon discovered we share the same ideas, same aims, same breeding projects. During those nice hours spent at shows, we decided to go on toghether seriously with our breeding plans and to register our cattery name together, becoming this way fellows in our birman passion. Attending birman shows we had the chance to meet a lot of interesting breeders and on 2005 we met Isabelle Dannenmuller and her wonderful birmans du Mas la Fontaine. I remember I was completely enchanted by her lilac point male Unshu du Mas la Fontaine and I desired to find a husband like him for my Smilla. Well, that desire was realized because Isabelle also liked my girl and we decided to organize a mating. We waited for Smilla's heat and then we left with a lot of emotion towards France, where we have been hosted by Isabelle and Georges at their home, among their beautiful birmans. From this mating we had two kittens, a seal point male and a blue-cream girl, Matinée, who stayed home with us and is now a wonderful and fascinating birman female, showing with grace a blue point mask with a cream point nose... absolutely adorable! This is the story so far, originated from our big love for this breed and our cats and also from some destiny chances that brought us towards directions we didn't think possible... |
